Music: Daniel Menche – Marriage of Metals

Sound artist extraordinaire Daniel Menche just released a digital version of his latest album Marriage of Metals online today via Bandcamp, and like with almost everything he has done in his career, this one is well worth your time and attention. The basic tracks were recorded at Lewis & Clark College, where Menche got on tape a performance by that school’s Venerable Showers of Beauty Gamelan Ensemble. True to form, he took them home, added layers of fuzz and distortion and created a gorgeous and immersive listening experience. You can catch the underpinning of metallic beauty underneath the circus of sound going on throughout, adding a level of eerie discomfort to these otherwise delicate instruments.
