Music: irr. app. (ext.) – Theme for Paleozoic Biomass Aggregation

Who doesn’t like a little discomfort to start off your work week? Start with this little unhinged gem from the Hillsboro-based artist irr. app. (ext.).  The artist/label impresario/musician’s latest missive to the SoundCloud universe has a Coil-like love of undercutting delicate, beautiful melodies with noises and field recordings that generate all kinds of physical and psychological unease. And like Coil, irr. app. (ext.) has a sense of humor about it as well, describing this chilling track in this way: Texturized drone sediment found under a pile of old Upper Carboniferous detective magazines in a sweaty volcanic crevasse somewhere to the east of South America. I know that crevasse really doesn’t exist, but after hearing this track, I’m still going in search of it.
