Music: The Translucent Spiders – Spooky 2

I don’t profess to know anything about this project other than its name and the fact that they are a Portland-based audio collage collective. All I do know is I adore the sound mashups The Translucent Spiders create. It reminds me of the work of Cassette Boy but without the socio-political commentary and silly jokes. There is still a sense of playfulness to their work – like this track that rides a long loop of ’70s guitar rock into the sunset – but it doesn’t thumb its nose at the world. Their music is meant to be part of the conversation rather than trying to interrupt it with fart noises.
